When Lionel Messi, Neymar were beaten by little-known Malaysian player to a Fifa award

Kuala Lumpur: A Malaysian footballer has beaten any semblance of Neymar and Messi to score a place in Fifa's waitlist for main three objectives of the year.

Midfielder Mohamad Faiz Subri's wafer of a free kick for Penang state in the Malaysian Super League in February was reminiscent of the swerving thunderbolt by Brazil legend Roberto Carlos against France in 1997.

Footage of the 29-year-old scoring a violently swerving objective from 35 meters (115 feet) out has turned into a web sensation, making him a sensation in football-insane Malaysia.

"This is something I will always remember and it spurs me to enhance my diversion advance," Faiz told AFP on Thursday.

"Football unites individuals and football supporters here are of many races, Chinese, Indians and Malays, and they voted in favor of my objective," he included.

"It's not time for celebrating yet," Faiz said. "How about we hold up till 9 January."
